SUMMARY:Soft Tissue Grafting Around Teeth and Implants. And Immediate Implants in the Aesthetic Zone
DESCRIPTION:Soft Tissue Grafting Around Teeth and Implants. And Immediate Implants in the Aesthetic Zone \nLectures Synopsis\nLecture 1: Soft Tissue Grafting Around Teeth and Implants \nA clinically driven overview of soft tissue grafting techniques\, focusing on recession management and minimisation\, and peri-im-\nplant tissue stability/augmentation. The session will explore indications\, graft selection\, surgical approaches\, and outcome optimisa-\ntion based on both clinical experience and emerging evidence. \nLecture 2: Immediate Implants in the Aesthetic Zone\nA structured approach to immediate implant placement in high-risk aesthetic areas\, covering case selection\, surgical protocols\,\nprovisionalisation strategies\, and management of hard and soft tissue dynamics and patient factors to achieve predictable aesthetic\noutcomes. \nDr Steve Soukoulis\nBDS 1996 (Adel) Clin. Dip. Dent 1998\, MDS (Perio)\, RACDS Periodontist\nDr Steve Soukoulis is a specialist periodontist with over 25 years of experience in implant dentistry and\nadvanced surgical procedures. He practices in Adelaide\, South Australia and has a strong focus on complex implant rehabilitation\,\nsoft tissue management\, and aesthetic outcomes in high-demand clinical situations. \nHe is the founder of the Dental Implant Registry (DIR)\, an independent clinical registry designed to improve transparency\, out-\ncomes monitoring\, and evidence-based decision-making in implant dentistry. His work integrates real-world clinical data with re-\nsearch to better understand complications\, long-term outcomes\, and treatment optimisation. \nHe has a particular interest in peri-implant soft tissue stability and the biological principles underpinning aesthetic success. \nHis current work bridges clinical practice\, registry science\, and data-driven treatment protocols\, with the aim of advancing stand-\nards of care and improving patient outcomes in implant dentistry.

SUMMARY:Zirconia as a Biomaterial for Implant-Supported Long Span and Full-Arch Prostheses
DESCRIPTION:Zirconia as a Biomaterial for Implant-Supported Long Span and Full-Arch Prostheses \nPresened by A/Prof Max Guazzato\nDDS (Milan) PhD DClinDent (Pros) (Syd) \nLecture Synopsis\nZirconia as a Biomaterial for Implant-Supported Long Span and Full-Arch Prostheses \nZirconia was introduced into dentistry in the late 1990s. Since then\, it has become the most widely used material in fixed prostho-\ndontics and a preferred choice for high-end\, long-span and full-arch implant-supported prostheses. \nThe aim of this presentation is to explore three decades of research and development in zirconia and its clinical application in full-\narch restorations. \nTopics will include the material’s history\, properties\, prosthesis design\, advancements in zirconia technology\, surgical and pros-\nthetic protocols\, and future directions. These aspects will be illustrated through personal publications and clinical case studies. \nWhat has made zirconia the dominant material in long span and full-arch implant prostheses? This presentation explores thirty\nyears of evolution (from early research to today’s advanced restorations) covering material properties\, design principles\, surgical\nand prosthetic protocols\, and future directions. These aspects are illustrated through personal clinical cases and publications. \nA/Prof Max Guazzato – Prosthodontist\nDDS (Milan) PhD DClinDent (Pros) (Syd) \nA/Professor Max Guazzato holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Milan\, Italy\, where he also\nobtained a Diploma in Dental Technology and completed a residency in Oral Surgery. In 1998\, he relocated to Australia\, where he\nearned a PhD in dental ceramics and a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) in Prosthodontics from the University of Sydney.\nSince 2001\, A/Prof Guazzato has been lecturing at the University of Sydney\, and since 2010\, he has been actively involved in\npostgraduate teaching in the fields of materials\, implantology\, bone grafting\, and fixed prosthodontics.\nOver the course of his academic career\, A/Prof Guazzato has supervised 14 research projects and secured more than 10\ncompetitive research grants from both public institutions and private industry. His primary research interests lie in the fields of\ndental implants and dental ceramics.\nIn addition to his academic commitments\, A/Prof Guazzato maintains a specialist prosthodontic practice in Pyrmont and Bowral\,\nNew South Wales. He has published 45 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and co-authored three books. He is a Fellow\nof the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (by examination)\, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists\, and a\nmember of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists.
